Koh-I-Noor Mondeluz Aquarelle

After seeing some reviews about the Koh-i-Noor Mondeluz Aquarelle watersoluble pencils, I was mesmerized about the quality of the pigment of these pencils.

So, I started a research about these pencils, sets and available colors... let's start by the details:

These are 7mm hexagonal watersoluble pencils, with 174mm width and a 3.8mm lead.

According to the Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth 2024/2025 catalogue, currently there are 94 colors:

Which can be summarized into this table, with colors grouped by another order:

There is the 3720 set, that comes in a tin, has a golden cape and a black line around the golden cape, having a more professional look.

Then there is the 3710 set, which is the same as the 3720, that comes in a cardboard box, it does not gave the golden cape nor the black line. It's basically a simpler version of the same pencil, more budget friendly, but with the same quality of the lead.

I bought the Art Set, that comes with 3 pencils and 2 sharpeners, and 72 pencils of the 7100 set, in a cardbox, because I don't really use the tin for storing the pencils.

There are some old charts (prior to 2017) with the 72 Mondeluz Aquarelle colors, but there is not an exact match for some numbers. That happens because Koh-I-Noor replaced some colors, as can be seen below (old color numbers on the right, new color numbers on the left):

On the 94 color chart, we can see that there are 12 greys (cold and warm) with numbers in the 400 range. These are not part of the 72 set, and are only sold open stock or in the Grey Line set:

There is also a Portrait Colours set that contains some skin colors, 7 which are not part of the 72 set (colors with numbers in the 300 range), which can also be bought open stock. This set contains other pencils that are already included in the 72 set.

There is also a Brown Line, with 12 brown colors, containing 3 colors (with numbers in the 200 range) not included in the 72 set.

The Mondeluz Aquarelle pencils are sold in sets of 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 or 72 colors, in tins or cardboxes, depending on the set.
